Early Learning:  ABCs and 123s

It's usually best to keep early lessons short, low-key, and fun -- remember to be sensitive to your little one's interest and attention span!

ABC Baby Board Book and 1 2 3 Baby Board Book
(Series: Baby Board Books
)

Uncluttered pages and simple, bright, colorful drawings of familiar objects make these books an ideal choice for little ones!

  For babies, choose board books with simple, bright pictures (especially pictures of animals, babies, and familiar objects), featuring only one or two items per page.*

First 1 2 3
(Series: Luxury Look and Say Board Books)

Young children will love spotting and counting the objects (from one big red fire engine to ten little lambs) in this bright and lively book with claymation-style illustrations.

  Choose chunky board books with sturdy pages that hold up to sucking and grabbing.  Expect babies to touch, grasp, and taste -- that is how they learn.

First Picture ABC and First Picture 1 2 3
(Series: First Picture Board Books)

With multiple items per page, these board books contain lots of familiar words and objects with charming claymation-style illustrations.  First Picture 1
2 3 has finger holes as an aide to help learn counting skills.

  Toddlers are increasing their vocabularies and listening skills.  Look for books with lots of pictures of things to name.*

ABC Jigsaw Book
(Series: Jigsaw Books
)

Young children will enjoy learning the letters of the alphabet
 with the characters from our popular Farmyard Tales series.  Each letter has its own picture jigsaw piece, which lifts out to reveal the letter underneath.  The interactive nature of this book makes it especially attractive to kinesthetic (tactile) learners.

ABC Flashcards and 1 2 3 Flashcards
(Series: Farmyard Tales Flashcards)

These colorful and sturdy flashcards feature our popular Farmyard Tales characters.

ABC:  52 cards, two for each letter.  Each card has a picture and a word on one side and the letter it begins with (upper and lower case) on the other side.  Since there are two cards for every letter, this set can also be used for matching games!

1 2 3:  numerals or number words on one side and pictures on the reverse.  There are also cards showing mathematical symbols.  You can use these flashcards to play matching and ordering games, and to introduce adding and taking away.

The Stephen Cartwright ABC and The Stephen Cartwright 1 2 3
(Series: Stephen Cartwright Numbers & Letters Books)

These books feature rhyming text with colorful scenes and gentle humor, providing a fun way to practice letters and numbers!

  Preschoolers are learning about the sounds of letters and words -- read books with rhymes and alliteration.*

 Farmyard Tales Alphabet Book
(Series: Stephen Cartwright Numbers & Letters Books)

Tongue-twisting sentences with questions to answer, and lots of things beginning with that letter to spot.  For each letter there is a picture of life on the farm, including Mrs. Boot the farmer, her children Poppy and Sam, and their dog called Rusty.

  Try books with characters the same age or slightly older than your child.  Playful animals will also hold their attention.*

Farmyard Tales Alphabet Lotto
(Series: Board Games)

Your child will have fun and learn valuable pre-reading skills with Poppy and Sam and the animals from Farmyard Tales.  Detailed parent's notes are included.

  Preschoolers are building their listening skills and attention spans.*

Learning Palette:  Alphabet and Learning Palette:  Counting

These hands-on activity cards are great for kinesthetic (tactile) learners!  Twelve self-correcting cards, to be used in conjunction with the Learning Palette base (sold separately).
